1200 km through the Inside Passage of British Columbia
Leaving Prince Rupert on June 3rd we hope to make it to Victoria around Aug 7th.
We are breaking our trip into four main legs: Prince Rupert to Shearwater, Shearwater to Port Hardy, Port Hardy to Nanaimo and Nanaimo to Victoria. (See below for map.)
We will prepare as much of our food as possible ahead of time and mail food packages ahead to be collected at Shearwater, Port Hardy and Nanaimo.
Prince Rupert to Shearwater (340km) will be the longest and most remote leg of the expedition with no towns along the intended route. We expect this leg to take us 3 weeks.
Shearwater to Port Hardy (200km) although shorter is another remote leg of the expedition with no towns on the intended route. Possible highlights will include the broken islands of the Goose Group and the beautiful beach of Burnett Bay. We expect this leg to take us 2 weeks.
Port Hardy to Nanaimo (330km) is another long leg but this one includes numerous towns and resorts. This leg will also take us through regions known for some of the strongest tidal currents in the world.
Port Hardy to Nanaimo (150km) is the shortest leg and also the most familiar as it takes us through home waters. Hopefully by then we will be at our ultimate fitness and we should only take a week to complete this final section.

Hey everyone,
It was a pleasure to see you off Garth. You are in for a great two months of paddloing with a great group of adults from everything I hear.
I’m glad that Ocean River Sports could help with your preparations and we will keep abreast of your progress. Please put us on your SPOT if possible and we will put things up on our web site and in our newsletter.
